What's your Opinion!

I have been wondering lately.......Is the "traditional" way of wearing hijab, you know abayas, jilbabs, long scarves is this way of dressing ordered to women by Allah or preferred by Muslim men? Or did Allah just want us to be modest in our dress. What do you think?

ASSALAM ALEIKOUM DEAR SISTER

THE CORRECT WAY TO DRESS FOR A MUSLIM WOMAN IS THE JILBAB OR ABYA AND THE SCARF. AND THE WORD JILBAB IS MENTIONNED IN THE QUR'AN FOR WOMEN. INDEED IT IS PREFFERED TO ALLAH (SWT)BECAUSE THE JILBAB CONCEALED THE SHAPE OF THE BODY.
I will get inshallah some more information about this for you

Yes, the prescribed way is to at the least wear a khimaar and a Jilbaab. The scholars differ as to what Jilbaab means. Some say that it means to cover the entire body including the face and hands and others say that it is an overgarment that doesn't cover the face and hands but that it is preferable.

This is based on the ayat in Surah Nur and Surah Al Ahzab.
